Tour Itinerary The first stop is Dover Castle over looking the majestic white cliffs of Dover. The Great Tower, recently re-opened, takes you back to the medieval court of King Henry II (1200s) who built the tower to showcase his power and wealth. Then, the highlight of the tour - Dover's Secret Wartime Tunnels (recently opened). Experience life as it was lived by the 700 personnel based here during World War II. You will see the Command Centre where Sir Winston Churchill viewed the Battle of Britain, relive the drama as a surgeon struggles to save the life of a pilot in the underground hospital, and see the room where the evacuation of Dunkirk was planned. Next, your tour travels to the ancient city of Canterbury. After a fish & chips lunch - which is included - enjoy a guided walking tour. Thomas Becket's murder at Canterbury Cathedral in 1170 led to the cathedral becoming a place of pilgrimage for Christians worldwide. This pilgrimage provided the theme for Geoffrey Chaucer's 14th-century literary classic the Canterbury Tales. In mid-afternoon, it's time to head for Greenwich - best known for its maritime history. Explore the village on a guided walking tour and then board a Thames cruise passing historic sights such as the Tower of London before arriving back in London at Westminster Pier where the tour ends. Tour includes hotel pick-up from over 170 London hotels. Child rate applies to ages 3-15; children 2 and under are free on an adult lap. Rates are per person in US Dollars.
